I think that is not, an unlikely outcome. Biden is now the only option to defeat electorally, he was not my preferred candidate for a variety of reasons. I’m a centrist by nature willing to scavenge ideas from the left or right as makes sense. I have no problem with a CEO being president of the United States, provided said type has an understand of governance coupled to a deep and respectful understanding of the laws and norms of this country which are daily being violated by the malignant narcissist occupying the White House

I agree that that should Biden be elected, half measures would likely result in a creature like Tom Cotton being elected in 2024. Cotton’s every instinct appears honed by a desire to stoke confrontation with China most likely driven by some desire to precipitate an apocalyptic quickening to satiate some of his more fundamentalist followers.

What is unclear to me, is how Biden will govern. Job 1 will be the removal of Trump from office hopefully coupled with a Democratic majority in the Senate and retention the House. Job 2 will be to pressure the incoming Biden administration to enact law which will preserve a political majority that will crush Trumpism by bleeding away support with meaningful and quickly recognizable change. This likely cannot be done without the elimination of the Senate filibuster which is rapidly approaching life support under Mitch McConnell’s nihilistic leadership. Might as well take the poor thing out the back door and put it out of its misery rather than dealing with a blockading GOP minority.

The only way forward for a Biden presidency is a “Team of Rivals Approach” which brings the best Democratic ideas together under the White House roof. Clearly we need to get people back to work after the COVID devastation, so massive infrastructure investment akin to the Green New Deal is obvious. The time for Single Payor healthcare option has arrived, politically it has plenty of support in the electorate. Implementation should be causus belli to eliminate the filibuster when the GOP will attempt to stall “socialized” medicine. A significant chunk of the associated cost will need to be financed by new taxes on the regressive, behind the scenes oligarchs who have run the country for the past 50 years. All of this will need to be done before the 2022 mid terms when Democratic majorities will be under threat. If the Democrats want to win they have to think big and act fast. No time for parliamentary niceties. The GOP has made it clear that they are only interested in rewarding their paymasters by looting the country. Almost all of them are undeserving of any respect

There are lots of hurdles in the above notions. It is unlikely to happen, but unless something close to this line occurs, America’s day in the sun will be over
